Elizabeth Peden has been the Executive Director of Congregation Kehilath Israel since July 2007. She is a member of the National Association for Temple Administration. Elizabeth began her career at K.I. in 2002 as the part-time bookkeeper/accountant and two years after coming to the congregation became the Assistant Executive Director.
Prior to coming to K.I., Elizabeth worked as the Manager of Finance & Technology for an executive search firm. She started her post-graduate career with Arthur Anderson & Co. in the Consulting Division. Besides her accounting and computer roles, she was also a certified aerobics instructor and personal trainer. She has an M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in Health Care Fiscal Management and Accounting and a B.A. degree from Agnes Scott College in Mathematics. Elizabeth is a CPA and led K.I.'s successful completion of the Bushman Community Endowment Program. She is the mother of three children.

Kehilath Israel Synagogue (K.I.) welcomed Rachel Macek as the director of the Kehilath Israel Fred Devinki Religious School in 2015.
Rachel brings years of experience working in education to her position. She earned her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in education from the University of Kansas. She has taught science and engineering classes for over eight years in the public school system. Rachel has been working in the Kansas City, Kansas School District central office for the last seven years as part of the curriculum department.
Rachel also has over twelve years of experience teaching in local religious schools. She has experience writing and reviewing curriculum in both public and religious schools.
Rachel is a life-long resident of Overland Park. She has been a member of KehiIath Israel for over seven years, serving in the past on the executive board. She and her husband, Scott Macek, are active with many of K.I.’s activities. Rachel lives with her husband and two children.
Mary Lea Greenwood

Mary Lea Greenwood started working at Kehilath Israel Synagogue when it was at its Meyer and Rockhill location in 1981. Her husband, Bill, is now retired and they have three grown sons and six grandchildren, all living in the Kansas City area. Mary Lea says, "In my thirty-three years with K.I., I have learned a lot about the Jewish religion and have met many wonderful people. I hope to be around for a while."

Allegra Shanberg has worked at Kehilath Israel Synagogue since May 2000, after working at another company for over 29 years. Not only does she work at K.I., but Allegra has been associated with the congregation for over 53 years. Her parents joined the synagogue in 1961 when the family immigrated to the United States. Allegra grew up at K.I., attending religious school at the old Meyer building. She and her husband, Kent, have been members since they were married in 1984. Their two children, David and Rachel, have also grown up at the synagogue as well as attending religious school. Both David and Rachel had their weddings at Kehilath Israel.
Karen Tulchinsky Smith

Karen Smith joined Kehilath Israel Synagogue in 2004 as a part-time accounting clerk when she had a young child. Soon her duties at K.I. changed and expanded. She became full-time and her responsibilities continue to evolve to this day. Karen says, "Growing up in Kansas City and having been raised in a different synagogue, it has been a fun adventure seeing K.I. from the inside! One of my passions is Judaism, and I love being able to help our members in any way I can to bring the synagogue and Judaism into their lives."
Evaristo Orozco has been working at Kehilath Israel Synagogue almost half of his life. He states that he knows almost all of K.I.'s members and he enjoys being able to help them. While he feels like working is his main hobby, he loves spending time with his six children.
Winston Cross has been on staff at Kehilath Synagogue since 2012. He is originally from St. Catherine, Jamaica and has been coming to the U.S. off and on for 15 years. Winston is married and is the father of five and grandfather of two. In his spare time, he enjoys remodeling houses. "I like working at K.I., and I hope to continue working here for as long as I can."
